I’ve often said that in order to renew your license, you should have to pass the driver’s exam. It should happen at any age, not just when you hit a certain age. I’ve seen people in all age groups that have no clue what’s going on behind the wheel. There are stories on Jalopnik all the time about them.

That is what happens when you elect a Democrat that gives no fucks about their constituents. They taxed the dogshit out of their residents to fund their identity politics agenda and now the infrastructure is so fucked they don’t have the money to fix it. Also allowing for manufacturing to move overseas brought this

A little short sighted aren’t you? It was the Republican Reagan era trickle down policies fortified by the Bushes that created the economic incentives for big business like the automobile manufacturers to move over seas among just a few of many other companies.

Thank you for your standard canned conservative view of progressive politics.

When you look at the entire purpose for Flint’s existence, it’s always been tied to GM and GM has had a long history of screwing over the town with their business decisions.

MI’s governors and state house have been mostly Republicans and they are the ones who set the tax rates and spending priorities for the state.

This issue is not about partisan politics and trying to boil it down to a bullshit talking point like Porthos does is a disservice to the people of Flint who are affected by

Governor Rick Snyder is a republican.

They just dumped toxic waste into the river and never cleaned it up. Other then that nope no responsibility at all....

Go drink some Flint water you uninformed troll.

This is hilarious from someone who failed to notice obvious thing written right in the article that you cannot stop posting about. You failed to note he was functionally illiterate, you failed to note his confession was coerced.

9th grade education in Detroit at that time may mean that he just failed up to 9th grade before dropping out.

The term “engineer” does get applied to certain occupations and degrees that don’t deserve it, but “electrical engineer” most certainly does. You only need a license for electrical engineering if you are working on power lines or other infrastructure tasks.

But he is an engineer. Whether he is certified in that state or not, he is an engineer. Doctors, lawyers, engineers...... even in a jurisdiction where they are not licensed, that is still their profession, and you are allowed to state this without being fined.

I hope he’s awarded $500, then $50,000.

If anybody is ever curious what a first amendment violation being used to suppress criticism looks like, this is it.

I think it has less to do with what is missing and more to do with what could be missing; in this case, cash income from red light fines.

I don’t know the specifics of the law, but my best guess is that the intent is to prevent people from, like, building shit without being licensed, so things don’t collapse and kill people. This guy isn’t selling his services, he saw a problem and did all the legwork and suggested a fix. Likely, this pissed off some

The Board cited laws against practicing engineering without a license, and cited his references that he is an electrical engineer as evidence. The board actually launched a two-year investigation into Järlström, where they decided that Järlström’s public critiquing of traffic light timing could be considered illegal

I doubt it. This is what happens to people who challenge a racket.

The entire court system is stacked in the favor of the prosecution, despite rules that are supposed to do the opposite. Public opinion, jury instruction, the way the cases themselves are presented, the inundation of every dumbass american with shitty Dick Wolf TV dramas... Juries sit down predisposed to the idea
