Great comment. There’s this idea in this country that “college” is “what you need” in order to get a “good job” and that taking courses that might interest or enlighten you but don’t enhance your employability are useless and stupid. So we herd a lot of kids who really have no business going to college at all into

How fast would I run from a doctor’s office when I saw that diploma hanging on the wall?

Sure they are, they go on to seminary to become pastors or work at lobbying firms like the Family Research Council or Live Action, or teach at an evangelical school, or become permanent missionaries or become politicians who then legislate their religious beliefs onto the rest of us.

They have a 27% 4-year grad rate so I wouldn't worry to much about their graduates!

Let us know which hospital is willing to hire someone who learned medicine from an institution that believes women were created from Adam’s rib.

It really depends on who your daddy is. #bootstraps

I’ve been seeing ads for Liberty University Online recently... on TNT, I think? I was like... “wait a second, isn’t that some rightwing-uberreligious noniversity?” I had to look it up, and I think originally I was confusing it with Regent University, Pat Roberts’ “college” famous for churning out “lawyers” like Monica

Fuck Liberty and fuck every school. Knowledge is free; universities sell diplomas. They provide high-paying low-producing jobs to people from high-earning low-producing backgrounds, to deprive workers of capital.

I was about to say something along the lines of “Who would ever hire these folks for a high paying job? How can these students ever pay these loans back?” but then I remembered that back in the day the Bush administration was hiring these graduates like they were constructed entirely of hotcakes and delicious

Money for corporations, not the stupid poors that toil on their behalf!

Yup. Or in Texas speak: Fuck all ya’ll, I got mine.

Are you saying that a Husband of Arts in Ancient Dinosaur Husbandry isn’t going to land me that CEO gig?

Hey Republicans, go after these grifters and not the single mothers who get $29 a week. So when is one of your own going to introduce a bill to stop this? I mean, since curbing entitlements is so important to you and all.

It’s upsetting that $800 million dollars is going to an institution that teaches creationism at a college level

I am genuinely surprised that you can get federal aid to pursue a degree at a school with such tenuous accreditation.

Ah the irony. How I’d love to see Bernie Sanders debate any or all of the GOP candidates and call them on bullshit like this. Also, if you believe in creationism, I would say that higher learning is a waste of your money.

JUST their grad students hold over $350 million in student loans from JUST the 2013-2014 school year. They’re one of a group of 20 schools that hold over 20% of US grad student debt.

It’s upsetting that $800 million dollars is going to an institution that teaches creationism at a college level, but that’s America for you.

Pretty consistent with the Republican mantra: “Dole for me, not for thee!”

Republicans seem to have even less understanding of irony than Alanis Morrissette.
