I’m not sure why you replied to me, but okay Debbie Downer. Why do people collect anything?

That is probably the coolest story ever.

OH! OH! ME! ME! Can I tell my Shirley Temple story? Of course, I’ve totally screwed up the punchline just by the subject, but here goes: 8 or so years ago, maybe 10, I was in the local market in Woodside, CA. I grew up in the area and I am in my 50s, so I’ve met a lot of people and I am pretty terrible with facial

“M’lady”...

Wow. That is so cool! I’ve never met her, but I know a couple of people who have (the equivalent of “my boyfriends’s cousin’s ex-girlfriend’s niece”) and they said she was a very kind, classy lady. It’s nice to hear that confirmed!

In 7th grade, I chose to give a presentation on Shirley Temple Black and her post-Hollywood career. I think the assigned topic was just inspirational women or something. The internet wasn’t so hot back then, so I wrote her a letter, hoping for a form letter from her secretary to include in my report. Instead I

This camera person knows whats up

So true. I have encountered literal verbal abuse (like, he threatened to abuse me physically) in my workplace (by a 100% narcisist that went on to embezzle hundreds of thousands of dollars from his next business) and that guy was clearly a sexist dickhole. That was easy to deal with because he got fired. No big deal,

I am very interested in this panel where a lot of great women failed to say anything interesting for fear of being perceived as feminist troublemakers (my take on this; haven’t seen the whole panel and I hope it was better than this article suggests). But PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Tom Hiddleston is there this year

Too true. I wish an anonymous actress would speak up about these tightropes they must walk to keep from jeopardizing their careers. Maybe there’s a site for it that I haven’t seen yet.

Absolutely. Granted, although she’s on a panel, she’s pretty much working the publicity junket for the film at this point. It may not be in her best interest, and I wouldn’t blame her. However, I can TOTALLY see her screaming “girl power” from the top of her lungs once the Wonder Woman trailer is released in an effort

I hate that statement as well. I’ve gotten in arguments with my SIL over statements like that. She doesn’t think sexism exists anymore, she thinks feminism is bullshit. During the NHL playoffs the Calgary Flames had released a statement about male fans harassing female fans on the red mile. there was a lot yelling

“Gadot, who starred in a couple of the male-dominated Fast and the Furious movies, said that she hasn’t faced much sexism”

This panel would have more weight for me if it had a diverse group of women directors, writers and producers. That’s who can create more believable female characters and female centered plot lines. What’s a actress really going to do besides bellyache?

I’ve considered something similar - I found my name once in a baby book on a list of names that leave your child “nothing to live up to” along with Bunny and Tammy, etc.

Oh, good. Remember a few months ago, when there was that other study and everyone was all like “in science, there’s actually reverse discrimination”? Suck it, you dicks.

That is called Kevinismus or Chantalismus (both are considered low-class names) in Germany. They did some research on that topic.

And it didn’t stop there. Female and male science faculty members alike offered John a higher salary than they did Jennifer and were more willing to offer him mentoring opportunities.

Can’t wait for someone to chime in with a personal anecdote that disproves this study because that’s how we analyze science these days!
