American automakers, yes. But foreign automakers have been concerned about emissions and economy for years.

Yeah but what about 5 years ago? Power’s always been easier to come by than fuel economy. We’ve been pretty stagnant in fuel economy for 20 years. While engines increase in efficiency, the size of cars have also increased. Civics get about the same or worse fuel mileage now as they did in the early 90s. I mean, the…

Oh.
I do it way too often. I still have parts cars for cars I don’t even own anymore. I think I have around 20 EG Civic hatches, and I don’t even have an EG I drive anymore.
A 7.4 year average ownership across all cars is actually quite a bit higher than I was expecting. Everyone I know who buys new cars keeps them for around 4-5 years before upgrading.

My personal trick for saving money on car parts is to buy a whole car. It’s usually cheaper than buying the two or three new parts you need. I once bought a CRX for $100 for the climate control, and sold the gauges out of the car for $50 and the seats for $200. It’s the ultimate way to get bargain parts.
Hey, that stuff happens to the best of us. Who hasn’t run over a car part or two in their front yard over the years?
I can second the poly rear bushings and beefy rear sway bar. That stuff made a world of difference in the EG Civic I used to race. The sway bar was hands down the best upgrade I ever put on that car.
Swapping a supercharged 4AGZE from an MR2 into an AE86 has to be the most effective upgrade I’ve ever done. That car already had a well setup chassis when I got it, including a TRD LSD, TRD coilovers, and an MR2 manual steering rack (a huge improvement over the sluggish stock AE86 power steering rack) . The car had…
It’s shitty for the cab drivers, no doubt, but your line of work going obsolete for newer technology is not the government’s problem. Adapt to the new line of business.
It sounds like something’s wrong with your CRZ. Mine accelerates nicely. It’s definitely not fast, but it’ll get the job done. When the battery’s drained, it is a pig though. But the only time I’ve drained the battery is when I’ve intentionally loaded it at 180 km/hr until it drains.
I doubt an S10 will be as reliable as an old Toyota. I’ve got an ‘83 Land Cruiser with 840,000 km on it that’s still running strong on the original engine, although the truck has rotted around it. And this has lived its entire life in central Canada, where winter lows dip below -40 regularly. I don’t think I’ve ever…
God damn that’d be fun.
You can catch me doing the Duck Challenge in every conversation, except with cars.
Since we’re talking about vacations, I’m gonna talk about one I had once. When I was 19, fresh outta tech, I decided to drive to the California coast from Saskatchewan. After spending a day in San Francisco, I got bored and decided to drive home. I went straight home, non-stop, to Saskatoon. I made this decision in…
I dunno. Probably 100+ octane. My guess is that version of the Apollo will be required to run racing fuel as well, which would be the reason you have to specifically request it.
