And you know how she deals with all those people? By not being here to make friends. Checkmate atheists.

I can’t even get tickets to Hamilton in my dreams.

Oh yeah, I frequent those places, too. My list was just getting really long, because we have so many great places :)

The thing with living in Georgia is that there ARE a lot of issues statewide, and I think I’d go insane if I didn’t work in a field that at least let me try to address those issues.

I luv Cabbagetown! I’ll add West Midtown(Westside) and Virginia Highlands but you pretty much hit on all the places I hang out. Unless I roll out to Downtown Woodstock when I’m feeling lazy and don’t want to drive too far.

You seem pretty awesome in general. :)

One of my pet projects at work is civic health, a lot of which is connecting people to community and helping them feel like they have a role and a voice in civic life. So I’m totally with you on that.

I have lived in GA since I was 10 I am a black woman and I face the obstacles that come with that in the south but it doesn’t mean I don’t love my state. I love GA I just don’t love the narrow minded people who populated part of it.

:) Well, certainly won’t do that anymore, after this very informative thread.

I sure as hell hope he vetoes campus carry... what a fucking nightmare that would be.

Girl....please don’t judge Atlanta by the airport Hartsfield is insane! There are good parts to GA as well as bad parts I’m black and there are certain northern counties I don’t stay in past sundown doesn’t mean there aren’t amazing places for me to hang out. I live 20 mins outside of ATL and I love it.

I think so. The constant inflow of people over the last few decades has made the city incredibly diverse. Meanwhile, the lasting power of the black community, economically and politically, combines with a steady influx of “educated professionals” (or whatever they are being called now) to keep the local politics well

Our Pride is awesome!!! And, I mean, Elton John had a house here for years. It’s a fun place.

Like I said, I’m glad there are less crappy aspects to his leadership. If it means he vetoes this bill, great.

This thread is making me want a peach SO BADLY. I think our biggest food export is peanuts, but I’ll take peaches any day.

I hate it, too! My work is funded by a national, progressive organization for which every state has a grantee (my organization, the grantee for our state, is non-partisan). So I meet up with people from every single state - and Puerto Rica and the US Virgin Islands! - several times per year, and you come to understand

I am so glad that I never have to layover at Hartsfield. Woof. But yeah, the intown neighborhoods are great - Grant Park, Cabbagetown, Old Fourth Ward, Inman Park (though it’s getting kind of yuppy), Reynoldstown, Sweet Auburn, Castleberry Hill, Little Five Points, all good destinations.

Holy shit, all that means is that you’ve seen the very worst of it, please dear god don’t judge ATL based off that place. And as the other poster said, the city has a ton of progressive and very (outwardly!) weird people. For example, this is from an Advocate ranking of the “Gayest Cities in America.”*

A properly ripe, fresh peach is magical awesome.

The green GMO rigid blobs that never ripen correctly most places have - aren’t really *peaches* in my opinion.

Came here to say that. From musicians to actors to comedians, this year has been unkind. We have to face the fact that the boomers are starting to shuffle off this mortal coil.
