I really liked the book, although I listened to an audio version so perhaps that was the saving grace, because even then that last 1/4 of the book drug on way longer than needed, and knowing me, their is no way I would have finished it if I were actually reading it.

My parents live in New Mexico and they have on average 10 cats to help keep the rats/mice at bay (and in/turn reduce the rattle snake count).. Downside tho is they loose about 1 a year to eagles and large birds swooping down and taking them. The circle of life is amazing.

Between this, and the singling out of black women because of their hair, perhaps these scanners weren’t designed for a diverse population and need to be reconfigured. Although in 2019, we really only need to be scanning cis white men in the US anyways. 

That’s the problem is that these fires are being started intentionally to clear way for agricultural land, that after 3 years will have no nutritional value and will no longer be able to be used for agriculture.
