The owner seemed to brush it off a bit, so they must have had full coverage on it and he’s confident it’ll be taken care off. He got the truck to rent on Turo, so he knew the risks and presumably is making money on it.

We ended up with an Equinox with a solid lease deal. My wife didn’t like how big the Blazer was, and since she uses the car for her business we were a bit price sensitive (she wanted a new car and the money saved on gas covers half the Equinox lease). That said, I keep seeing more Lyriq offers, and for someone who was…
There are some discounts out there on leftovers now for sure, but based on the conversation we had with the chevy dealer a few months ago (from the mouth of the dealer, so who knows if it’s true):
I looked at the Mach Es because we were looking at a EVquinox or BlazEV lease. The local dealers here had 0% promos for purchase as well, but nothing resembling a competitive lease.
Autotrader shows only 6(!) new Lightnings within 100 miles of me. Only 2 are being advertised under $70k, and that’s because they include the $7500 rebate in the price. Only 1 is actually marked down - 3 grand off of a $79k truck. So yeah, seems like they aren’t too interested in actually moving them.
I don’t think it’s too far off - a few grand? Could probably push for asking if it had the premium interior.
It is pretty crazy. It sort of infers that crashes are basically the only thing that takes them off the road.
Not really up with the times, but I thought they were bought by some Russian oligarch back last time Top Gear reviewed a car from them.
Ahh, see I was distracted by the AZ reg, but the issue may be California smog. Good catch.
That seems like a really shitty band-aid attempt to fix a dangerous situation. If the road in front of the school is more than 35mph to begin with, that’s already a problem.
I understand a lot of the concerns around speed cameras, and in general I’m opposed. But in all the outrage expressed in the comment sections of the news articles here in Rochester, none of the outrage was that SO MANY FUCKING PEOPLE ARE SPEEDING THROUGH THE SCHOOL ZONES.
I know that once you’re already lugging around all of the gear for a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, added a little extra battery capacity is a relatively small addition. I think 30-35 miles of EV range is plenty, but if you’re Mercedes and want to set yourself apart from the pack a bit this is a way to do it (and perhaps…
The question is what were their actual losses versus projected losses, though. They knew that the Air was going to be relatively low volume (or they should have anyway) and there’s massive costs sunk into setting up/expanding production and R&D. It was always going to take a long time to become profitable.
My first reaction was “no shit”. But I guess the devil’s in the details. I thought the end goal was to have them build cars in the US, but if they are saying the rules on components are overly restrictive then it may require some further study. Of course, that’s their opinion, but every automaker imports components.…
Maybe if Ford had a bunch of layoffs that required supervisors to work the line, they’d have posted big profits like GM did? Silly Ford.
I’m with you - they are not at all subtle either.
I’ve now seen a few (many more sightings, but given the locations probably some repeats) Airs around town, which I was very much not expecting. I think if they can keep things moving (with those big infusions of cash they’ve been getting) these will really be a big hit.
I’m interested to see the review when it comes out. The sedans seem to be proper luxury cars, and this should compete well as an apples-to-apples comparison with the Mercedes offerings more than the EV9 (which is a nice car, of course, but with lower luxury expectations). They are all way above my price range, but I…
I was thinking this was a nice price, but then there was the bit about it being a Mexican import, which I don’t definately know is an issue but seems like something a fanatic would care about. Also, the listing location and registration nonsense is a red flag. Could be due to the owner living in a smog testing…
I saw that (maybe today?) they made a big spectacle with a giant check of someone winning $1 million. I guess they decided they have to pay at least one person to make it look like it’s still a legitimate claim that people will get paid.
