I wouldn’t be surprised if Porsche offers it in the future.

Yes, which is probably restrictive for some folks. But we have a 2nd car we can use for long trips, making it pretty manageable.

I’m hoping as the used market continues to grow the restrictions on the used EV tax credit are changed - the $25k max and income cap are restrictive. But of course depending on how things go in November these credits may be gone entirely for 2025. So we’ll just have to wait and see.

Local dealer here has Blazer EVs for $199 or Equinox EVs for $159, both with $2k down. For $44k-ish and $53k-ish vehicles. You’d be real dumb to buy one and take the depreciation hit over 2 years when those lease opportunities are out there.

This is simply not a good looking car. The black hood seems to accentuate the weird proportions of the car and that luggage rack screams “Grandma’s LeBaron”.

I guess if your aesthetic is LeBaron but you want a little more reliability, this is the ride for you?

It seemed like GM didn’t have much interest in promoting the Bolt (or the Volt before it). They’re pushing the Blazer and Equinox more, but half the page for the Blazer EV is talking about the speed and thrills of the SS that still isn’t on sale. Ford was obviously pushing the same narrative by using the Mustang name

There’s definitely a lot of that, and if we’re looking at a “can afford a new 3-row SUV and full-size pickup” market, then that’s the stuff we’re going to push to electrify. But a lot (most) people can’t afford that kind of lifestyle. And some people who can are just a lot more practical about their purchases.

To add to your comment - many (if not most) families with two vehicles have a big one (for getting the kids around regularly) and a small one (that can work in a pinch but is mainly the commuter). The big one is the one they are going to take on road trips, a city over to the fair, to grandmas house for the holidays.

Loud exhausts are disruptive and annoying, but as you mentioned this is the type of regulation that often leaves all of the interpretation up to the officer. Reminds me of a few years back when NY made checking for window tint part of the annual inspection. The number of people pissed about having to remove their tint

Any lift that raises the height of the bumpers period. If you want to lift your off-roader or mall-crawler, fine, but that bumper should drop by an equal about. It’s actually insane that it’s legal in this, the year of our lord 2024, to raise your vehicles bumper height by 8" without any oversight at all.

This is far too small to take a kid to soccer practice. You’ll want an Expedition for that. These are for getting your mountain bike to the smooth gravel parking lot near your favorite park.

I guess it’s been over 7 years since Torch’s article, and this has different content, so it’s not just recycling. But I like when new articles reference an older one right up top and build on it.

It’s really impressive. It’s hard to drive 70 mph for 20 miles around SE Michigan most of the time.

I think (but I’m not a lawyer) that is her out here. It was an abusive relationship. Is that ultimately her fault, maybe. But the story above doesn’t seem to paint a picture of her as a terrible person.

That’s the actual top shot from their website. And still only, like, the 5th ugliest car that they make

I had to go look up what the hell a BMW i5 M60 is. Apparently I saw an image of it and scrubbed the entire existence of this car out of my mind. What the actual fuck, BMW?

That’s where I landed. *IF* you like the mods, I guess it’s not a terrible price compared to new. But who can afford this and not a new one spec’d exactly how they want it?
