I think a big part of the issue might be familiarity- the film was spoofing a very particular genre from a very particular time, and it’s one that had been dead for a while before the film came out.

The episodes people are commenting on are:

Your first paragraph is incoherent- The Democratic party as a whole capitulated to its rightward edge rather than to its leftward edge. This, along with their history of capitulation to the right, tells you why the US got the heritage foundation’s healthcare plan.

So, what you’re saying re: ACA is that the democrats didn’t implement a public option... because democrats didn’t want to implement a public option?

HamNo go on Chapo

The DSA is doing a lot of work in local politics, for one.

Read Shattered. Clinton never intended to run on or implement that platform, which was a deliberate choice on her part.

Look at the Clinton campaign, both during the primaries and the general. “[UHC] Will Never, Ever Come to Pass!” crowed Clinton, despite the 11.3% still uninsured and the mounting insurance monopolies. “Would Breaking Up the Banks End Racism?” despite the fact that PoCs were disproportionately targeted and hit by

Yeah, but the ‘bend the knee’ comment is widely misconstrued- he was talking about establishment dems who condescendingly insist that they know best but have had an almost eight year long losing streak that’s resulted in Donald Trump becoming president.

They just really don’t want to admit that 2016 was a mistake, so they’re doing the whole thing over again. Focusing on Russia ties and Trump’s boorishness, not mentioning policy at all, refusing to move left, and championing ‘reasonable’ Republicans who would do all the same shit as Trump just because they agree that

A lot of people really don’t think they stand for those things though. I don’t, for instance.

Not really. Romney for instance pushed hard on Big Government/Budget Cuts, Entrepreneurship, Obamacare, Dodd-Frank and, to a lesser extent, energy independence. Plus if you actually look at the tea party there were a lot of policy positions there too, like lowering taxes and increasing off-shore drilling. The

Like, any given ice monster?

The tech industry is arguably closer to fascism than the Republican establishment, although both are obviously on nodding terms with it. So, it makes sense.

Statistically speaking, no he didn’t. At least, not more than is typical. If you look at the Wesleyan Media Project study, Trump spent more time talking about policy than either candidate in ‘08 or Gore in ‘00. Clinton, by contrast, spent the least time talking purely about policy of any candidate over the past

God, we are so boned with this fucking moron. Remember when we actually had an intelligent, articulate president?

It’s probably not actually hard for most of the folks on this list.

I honestly have no problem with that sequence of events. A trans sex worker is brutalized and defends herself appropriately. In her accounting of events, she mentions problematic ideas about trans women and how they contribute to violence. Plus she’s probably going to become a badass, smart, courageous secret agent.

If you’re picking a dumb evil Republican to be in charge of space, why pick a dummy like Pence? At least Gingrich knows about space.
