Thank the gods! I was just telling Ms. Hot4Chocolate the other night how disappointed I would be if that theme was not referenced. Those moments in Smallville where you would hear a snippet, always gave me the chicken skin.

The weightlifting scenes demonstrated he had super-strength. That was the point.

I love the movie, but it always struck me as funny that the boys needed a virgin to open/close/whatever the portal and are struggling to find one until settling on the little sister. WTF. These kids were all sexually active? The spell didn’t specify female.

Anyone else think we got a glimpse of Supergirl?

Are they? I left the theatre thinking there was room for Zeus (at least) to still be alive.

I think the question is, would Steve Trevor had made his sacrifice without her influence? He was accustomed to carnage and fatalistic. Without her lead he would not have done his deed. The No Mans Land scene inspired him, as well. So, she is not just a symbol, but a catalyst.

The King Arthur story is actually pretty damn tragic.

We all thought we were going to burn in nuclear holocaust. 30 years more of civilization seemed too much to ask. If we knew we’d make it this far, probably woul have pushed things back a bit.

That is totes going to be in the movie

That’s a good point. There has been a lot of criticism of the film here for using a morally ambiguous imperialistic war and following the jingoistic popular conception of WWI as some kind of fight of good v. evil. If Thewlis is Ares, then the Brits and Americans are no different than the “Hun”.  That opens the door

To be fair, the character’s performances in the comics, emoting, line delivery, etc, was always two-dimensional.

Dammit! How ‘bout a spoiler warning. I’ve been reading Children of Dune one page at a time for the last 50 years, you just ruined the entire series. Thanks, dick.

Whatever you want to say about him, Stallone is no dummy. He did write Rocky, after all.

I dont think it was poor story telling. If there was a part you didn’t understand, I would be happy to explain it to you. If you were, in fact, able to follow the story, then it wasn’t terribly poor storytelling. I am here to help.

Wait, people hate Joss Whedon now? Yowza

No mention of Wonder Woman?

Me too, I’m worried the negative reaction derails the vision for these films. I like this world and want to see it continue. Bring on the New Gods!

Yeah, but those sexual politics were inherently silly and rightfully disposed of. Marston sure talked a good game, but his family life was problematic and he was not the champion of women some see him as. If anything, he fetishized women, not respected them.

Save him for “The Boys”

This is the strangest ranking technique I’ve evere seen. “John Hamm is not ranked number one” right next to where the article clearly ranks him as number one. Number 2 is anyone else. WTF?
