Symmetrical AWD works great in those scenarios you mentioned. FWD based, open diff “on demand” AWD systems are pretty useless.

Mr3D is correct, they used the wrong head gasket. The RS’ head was tweaked by Cosworth and the cooling passages are a little different, IIRC.
