There was a VW tech in a different article that said VW is paying to bring the cars back up to showroom condition, on top of offering the 5K off. Sounds like your dealer was trying to make a quick buck. I’m sure there’s a small amount of pent up demand for those cars, but probably not that much.

The GTI is hard to beat. I went GTI > RS and I miss basically everything about the GTI with the exception of the power. The GTI didn’t need FOUR lanes to make a U-turn either. Guessing the ST/RS share a fuel tank, I can do maybe 250 miles on the highway.
