You’d have to keep the Focus for 10-15 years to get out from under it. This is an actual picture which depicts a Focus’ rate of depreciation:

Auto Flex is a weird one for me. Its not something that can be DIY’d without professional tools. Its not cheap, I’ve heard its about the same in price as a quality wrap (2-3k), and it certainly wont last as long as one. To me, the entire point of peelable paint is that its cheap and easy to do so you can change it up

The Ecoboost engine is a ticking time bomb at those power levels. The rods are only good for about 450 and the block needs significant reinforcing/sleeves to make 550. Not mentioning the dozens of other things that need to be upgraded at those levels, but those two would make the biggest boom.

Two things that all bad drivers do:

I’m calling BS. Most of our senior leadership takes a oath (pretty sure its in the senior non-commissioned officer handbook as well) to make it their lifes mission to catch people dipping in a gov building or vehicle. If you’re seasoned enough to gut chances are the size of said dip wad (I don’t dip, I’m sure they

Mercedes are really the only one’s to have mastered the radar placement. Everyone else seems to just cut a hole in the bumper and call it a day.

My wife has a MK6 (2013) GLI, its a cool little car. The transmission is definitely geared and programed differently than the one that was in my MK6 GTI. Much longer gears and less aggressive shifts. I agree that the soundaktor makes the weirdest noise, its a cross between a Subaru boxer and a flathead V8, I don’t

Can’t agree more. New cat’s are getting much better at being less restrictive, yet people still yank them off first chance they can get for an extra 5whp.

Anyone who bitches about Haldex hasn’t driven a modern sports car with it. The power transfer is seamless. Focus RS is FWD 99% of the time as well, and you sure don’t see people bitching about its handling. Can confirm it feels just as AWD as my holy grail symmetrical AWD Subaru did.

Second Gear: LOL at the “stall” terminology their using. Stalling and throwing a rod through the block are two very different things. That’s going to be an interesting fix, I wonder if they are going to break every motor down and check for bearing wear, or if they’ll just replace the screens and issue a TSB for

STi is the way to go here. Fun, reliable, endlessly customizable, and the resale value can’t be beat. If you like blue I recommend getting the hyper blue special edition, as they will hold their value even better than the regular STi’s.

Live in Cheyenne. I-25 from Cheyenne to Ft Collins is regularly closed for high winds/snow. Not talking 40-50 MPH, try 60-85MPH direct crosswinds...yeah, its fun. Depending on cost, I would use the shit out of that thing.

He was the best part of the Rebirth of an Icon series about the RS. Engineers would feverishly work on the car for months and then he would just calmly tell them it sucks and to start over.

Probably has something to do with emissions/fuel economy testing. If they sell the car with the mode enabled it probably has to go through more testing than it would if they sell it as an aftermarket kit labeled “for off road use only”.

Pretty much everything uses synthetic oil now. Not sure why you think theres a price disparity between 5w30 and 0w40. VW charged about $65 to change the oil in my wives car, which seems about going dealer rate for a synthetic fill. If theyre going to a jiffy lube type store and they charge extra for it as premium

Sorry if I missed it in a previous post, but how do you plan on tackling the Rockies? That seems like the most difficult part of the journey for the car at least. If its not a happy camper its going to be real unhappy going through the Eisenhower tunnel at 10k+ feet.

Spent all last weekend rock crawling in a Jimmy’s buggy much like the one they broke in the 1st segment. Can confirm they are bad ass, will climb up anything, and will gladly set themselves on their roofs if you’re a little careless with the go pedal. 10/10 would do it again.

Yeah but that requires you to own a BMW out of warranty, and as if that couldn’t get any worse, this one is equipped with an N54.

Not sure why the 0w40 oil would be a sticking point, M1 sells 5w30 synthetic and the 0w40 “European formula” synthetic for the same price at my local wally world. $27 bucks for an oil change (+ filter) shouldn’t make anyone hot or bothered. An oil change on my RS is roughly 3x as much as my GTI was.
