I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, unless she’s insisting it MUST be at her house and it MUST be ordered in. Perfectly reasonable to say “If you want to have it here, this is how we’ll do it, otherwise make different arrangements.”

I just learned so much about British culture from a single thread.

Came here to see if anyone would say this.  Leaving satisfied.

I’ll go look that up!

Ah, that makes more sense. Thank you for explaining it! Composting is definitely not a city service where I live so I wasn’t aware that that was even a thing.

He must have been so happy when it was over.

I agree with you in principle, but I like sick spot on humor and damn that’s funny.

There can be no turning a blind eye ever. Not ever.

Ahhh! Ok, I got you now -- thanks for clarifying. That’s actually really interesting now that I read both your comments in that context. Cheers.

I’ve been shouting this from the rooftops - everybody telling me he can’t do this or the military won’t follow the orders - no. He can and they absolutely might follow those orders. He has the power to decide what is a national threat and ergo he makes the rules.

(Also - from what some other commenters have said, the film is actually adapted from an old book from that era, or not long after)

Your comment history shows me that you are indeed serious about this. Tell me, what country is the North Pole in? Are the elves all white too? And what is Rudolph’s red nose made out of? How can Santa be in different malls at the same time? What kind of magic is used to make the sleigh fly, and how does it go so fast?

While I in no way support Kelly or her comments, the ‘buyout’ clauses can work for both sides - speaking as someone in the industry.

...

You’re right.  It’s not a matter of opinion.  The objective fact is that this site and its articles are editorial content.

I think I see what you are saying is pro-lifers aren’t really pro-life, they don’t care about minorities.

Huh. This is dumb. Who is starring this. These bans and limitations of rights unfairly and disproportionately affect the poor and disenfranchised. And that sure is not white male fetuses and their white mothers.

Look, even though Splinter staff will throw tantrums that they’re journalists how dare you, you can’t be expecting them to, like, take the time to tell you people’s full names or who they are or what they do. It takes a lot of work to copy-paste from Washington Post articles and slap your name at the top.

Clarity” in this context would be acknowledging his closed and stunted mentality and trying to improve on that. Taking pride in holding the same opinions as you did when you were a child is not “clarity.”

Thanks! I’m already anxiously awaiting the return of tomato season. (I didn’t get any preserving done last summer because we moved house.)
