to my mind, the truly absurd aspect of this whole thing (and all the hypotheticals of it going another way) is that marriage is really more of a civil ceremony/institution than a religious one. There is basically no scripture talking about marriage per se and divorces are almost 100% civil.

I just joined NextDoor (like a social network for your neighborhood) and I’ve seen a few posts about people getting attacked, harassed, etc and when the cops come they basically say there’s nothing they can (or will) do. I feel like all I’ve learned from Law & Order is lies.

My father in law was jumped in his neighborhood walking the dogs yesterday and it took the cops an hour to respond when a neighbor witnessed the attack and called 911. The guy ran off without causing too much damage (my FIL is 70 but he does cross fit and is ridiculously strong... the guy probably just saw ‘old guy’…
