Look I prefer any two-tone over none at all, but FFS, have the break either be right at the bottom or top of the pillar. How do you not just have the black portion run in line with the upper window trim instead of 4" below it?

and when the weather cools off prices will remain high while they ‘catch up’ and then prices will remain high because of some world event or they’ll blame a storm or sun spots. It’s all fucking made up bullshit while they search daily for good excuses to keep prices high. Fuck this

The price immediately had me wondering what the price of a new 4-Runner is, because it doesn’t seem like it leaves much room between them. It will be interesting to see the reviews and fuel economy numbers closer to launch. I wonder if something like this would be a plug-in hybrid? Otherwise the efficiency gains are

I’ve owned many of these B5 Passats and a few months ago I bought another one. There is no reason you should pay $5k for one of these, even accounting for the fact that used car prices have gotten stupid. The engine isn’t special and neither is the transmission. If it doesn’t have any major problems, it’s a $3,500 car.

A full-size hybrid SUV that starts in the mid-$50k range is honestly pretty cheap for this day and age.

In a word, YES.

It’s a nice price as long as the rust spot on the driver’s door isn’t the tip of the rustberg. Bring ramps when you go to see it so you can get underneath for a close look at the structure. If you see rust everywhere, then this otherwise fun and functional wagon is living on borrowed time.

My question here: this looks to be roughly the same size as the 4Runner; what’s going to happen with it?

This could have been cool...if it was complete. Put the fuel filler door on for sales pictures at least. And why is the door rail side skirt just a piece of home depot gutter with a few sheet metal self tappers in it? I could see if they were going for that drift-trash riveted look thats been so overplayed the last

Nuke it from Orbit, its the only way to be sure. ND

do it and report back please

But back in 84 he could throw the pigskin a quarter mile

Not only that but you can tell it was a shit job seeing as how overspray is showing on the windshield wiper stalks. That means there is probably overspray everywhere under the hood, wheel wells, and who knows where else. The paint job screams Earl Shieb

This occupies a weird space in no man’s land. It might be rare but is it desirable? I think the answer is no, not really — especially not at $13k.

I can feel the Cowl Shake from here. ND

I owned one of these, the Club Coupe version, it was a great car. It was even my daily driver for a while. The market has not moved enough in 9 years to justify the price on this one, I sold mine on BaT before the auction days for around $14k and it was really dialed in: https://bringatrailer.com/2014/09/23/freeway-fri

Sadly, most of the people who would appreciate a car of this vintage are no longer with us.

I’m a sixty-something guy who spent much of my childhood restoring twenties-forties era cars with my dad. He’s still alive and kicking at 90, but as you mentioned, it’s getting harder to find people knowledgeable about restoration of cars from this era. Dad’s dozen or so are sadly deteriorating in his garage as he’s

I would throw the dice at it, nothing in here that a decent home mechanic cannot tackle including rods. However bills will come due to age and wear and tear. Having had an E39 wagon and my 850 I would tackle this.

Had one, loved it. Not sure one would be worth $8K today though, especially not with 160K+ miles
