when I was in Ireland in 1997 I was watching the AFC title game on Sky (it’s out of the UK, not Ireland, once owned by Rupert Murdoch, unfortunately) and the lead announcer, a British dude, felt the need to over explain everything to their British and Irish viewers. There are better teams at the top but not top to bottom in those leagues. For example, in Portugal’s top league you have players on the lower table teams not getting paid. Obviously Porto, Sporting and Benfica are elite there’s a huge drop off in talent level. Similar for the Scottish Premiership. More competitive…

I’d put MLS second behind Liga MX. Costa Rica’s is too dominated by Saprissa and the bottom teams are crap and can’t pay. Even Saprissa is losing top players to MLS.

my cousin lived in the same subdivision in Matthews when Smith was a rookie. When I visited he pointed out the house and I noticed the grass was dead. I asked if he had just moved in and my cousin said “no, he was out spraying RoundUp on a windy day.”

My sister doesn’t let her kids around my mom for a similar reason. We knew all of the racial slurs as kids thanks to my mom. The last time I was home she started going off on “sanctuary cities’ and “immigrants” and my wife, an “Anchor Baby”, made sure that conversation didn’t continue.
