actually, tennis players can win up to $10K and still keep their NCAA eligibility. However, if they play outside out 6 months from their first opportunity to enroll in college then they lose a year of eligibility and many abroad don’t know that rule.

we booked 4 months in advance for Half Dome with a tour operator. He got passes for some weeks but not others, including the week we’d booked. That’s how difficult it is (and should be).

My wife and I were going to do the Inca Trail but those permits are very tough to come by these days. The Peruvian government recognized there were too many people going up there. Even for Half Dome in Yosemite, it’s hard for tour operators to always get permits.
