Why would it by $40K? Retail price on an Edelbrock SC is $5400 for the Toyobaru. $6700 for Cosworth SC with external intercooler...

You would think... But you spend decades selling the “FWD is better” Kool-Aid, and make nearly every production car that way and you paint yourself in a corner. That and they would cost engineer the shit out of it and probably build it on a Civic platform. Something always goes horribly awry in the concept to

Great proportions, and the freedom to mount the electric motor where ever they want, yet it would likely be FWD.

Um, even I can’t beleive I’m saying this but Kia makes some pretty damn good cars now. Hyundai/Kia entered the market with cheap, craptastic cars about 30 years ago but they have been upping their game significantly with every new model release.

Gas in the US? I’ll go pretty much anywhere. A few cents a gallon amounts to maybe a buck on a full tank. In Canada, gas prices will vary as much as $.12 per LITRE. 3.78 litres per US gallon and all of a sudden it’s $10 difference a tankful. Back before a company gas card, I would regularly check gas prices online

This would make me very happy. I’ve wanted an RX-8 in theory but the unreliable, thirsty rotary kept me away. I’ve even thought about buying one with a blown engine for an LS swap because I love me a lightweight RWD chassis.

Oh how I wish that rumor to be true. If I’m dreaming - make it a wagon (I have a big dog) with a stick shift. And no, I don’t want brown...

I couldn’t agree more. I had my first La Fin du Monde almost 25 years ago and it’s still in the rotation today. It’s about the only Unibroue I can find regularly in Ontario.

We Canadians say the same about American swill too. Truth is it’s all around 5%. It’s also true that the macro brews are so bland and tasteless that they do in fact taste like water. Give me craft beer (American or Canadian) over mainstream shit any day.

Complexity comes down, but very little of that cost savings will be passed on. It will go to shareholders.

Festiva ST?

I agree whole-heartedly with all of these. I have two others:

It’s a wonderfully quirky car that I am thrilled exists, but CP all day. I’ve always loved the idea of a mid-engined hot hatch. In fact, this was one of my go to vehicles way, way back in Gran Turismo 2. But for $70K US I’m buying a nearly new (6-cyl) Cayman S which is better in every conceivable way, and still have

Tried to rip the McLaren a new ass-hole?

Are you really judging the reliability of a companies’ lineup on a pre-Y2K car?

I’ve agreed with this before, and I will agree with you again!

It’s a Civic.. I don’t get it. At least in Toronto, its $42k plus tax. That’s about $34,300 US. I see it as a econobox so it’s still much more than I’d pay, but not extortion like this stealership.

These are all hypotheticals, but I would not jam the brakes full stop on a highway unless it was my last resort. A truck can be 80,000lbs and there is no way I’d have the confidence it would stop.

Yup, pretty much my point. $200k isn’t disposable income for many I suspect.
