she didn’t want his appearance to be “a gimmick”
The audience has way too much context to be in her headspace. They know that they’re watching a Marvel show on Disney+, and that Quicksilver as played by Evan Peters is a mutant from the X-Men franchise. With Disney buying Fox and that multiverse / Dr. Strange stuff on the way, how is the audience not supposed to…
there was nothing in the episodes leading up to Pietro’s appearance that suggested anything related to mutants or the X-Men.
I’m not certain what you’re saying with this. I don’t think there’s any condition of alternate Pietro’s origin that would preclude Wanda being suspicious and uncertain. Whatever his origins, he’s obviously not her brother, regardless if he was a rando that Agatha imbued with powers or an alternate universe Pietro. Her…
That’s separate from *the casting of Evan Peters*, and is a plot that would have played out exactly the same with any other non-Aaron Taylor-Johnson actor. In fact, all casting Evan Peters really did was *distract* from the story of Wanda’s grief, by acting as a meta gag that pulled attention and seemed like it might…
This is my M. Night Shyamalan Theory of Twist Endings: a twist that makes the story more interesting (The Sixth Sense) is good. A twist that makes the story less interesting (The Village) is bad. I’d agree that the Fietro twist falls mostly in the second category - our ideas of what he might represent (mutants,…
This is where people get “Easter egg” confused with “tease.” And I don’t think it’s the show’s writers’ responsibility to keep the audience from jumping to conclusions.
Good storytelling is inherently manipulative.
It was clever casting, and I did enjoy the conceit. The issue is the whole Marvel franchise has always treated each entry like a domino, existing to set up the next step. So they’ve conditioned this overheated response from the audience.
Maybe “why was the special space-truck that Monica wanted to drive into the Hex such a piece of crap?”
Yeah, the Peters casting was too clever by half for the story they were trying to tell with it. In a vacuum it would be hilarious, but with the context that Disney just bought Fox and had already announced at least one of the X-characters would jump to the MCU, it was entirely predictable that the audience would take…
They were testing browser compatibility. Zach Snyder is best viewed in Edge.
‘Congrats you are worse than him.’
Yikes. Go back to breitbart.
I’m guessing Rachel posted a link to their Watch Later list, with an index number in the link which matches differently for everyone. For me it’s my #1 in my Watch Later. Which I’ve still not watched even after many many years.
This was in my Watch Later because someone linked it in the comments of a Morning Music, if that helps? Clicked on it once but haven't actually watched yet.
Reminds me of when they hired Ellen McLain to voice the AI in Pacific Rim. She’s GLaDOS, for those unaware.
Wait, did their link show up for you as a different video than what they thought they posted too? But also different from how it showed up for me? The fuck?
Pretty sure they said in the post they’re going to make new controllers.
