Interesting. He made it look like he had the fastest car on the track by a lot. I’m sure he is highly skilled but in these types of races I never know enough about the other cars out there to really gauge how they would stack up against each other performance wise. Fun to watch though.

Would you consider Apple vertically integrated? they outsource ALL of their manufacturing... Don’t they? Maybe that’s changed?

I think dealerships are past their prime. But, this type of recall highlights the need for more service in the Tesla model for it to go mainstream. Tesla fans will probably be OK with driving for 1.5 hours to get to the service center and then back again. Hopefully same day but probably not.

Vertical integration is not really feasible for large manufacturers due to the capital requirements. It works for Tesla for sure but that is due in large part to 2 things. 1, They don’t sell that many cars (both variety and total units) 2, Their investors are speculators and really treat it like it’s still a startup…

Recalls like this are pretty run-of-the mill. And don’t seem like a big deal.

I see trucks towing horse trailers almost daily. I’m wondering why they drove those horses to the middle of a snowy pasture in a trailer. Wouldn’t you saddle up and ride them there?

I wasn’t criticizing him. I find these posts amusing. I also find it equally as amusing when I apply the same viewpoint to modern sales brochures. They are all ridiculous and funny at the same time. New ones just aren’t quite as quaint.

How quaint. You ever look at modern advertising with the same viewpoint as when looking at these old ones?

Don’t you just strap a full size spare to the roof rack along with the extra gas cans and ladder jack? Who buys an “overlanding” rig and wants the spare hidden in some stock location. Hell, strap it to the hood so everyone can truly appreciate your commitment to off-roading cosplay.

I don’t understand people’s obsession with trying to live in a shipping container. I could build a framed trailer out of lumber and FRP that would be cheaper, lighter, more comfortable, and more habitable. 

Subscriptions are good and bad. I’d like the option to upgrade something or even to “deactivate” others from time to time.
