He was the star of the enormous international hit TV show Normal People, became a style icon during lockdown and is now engaged to pop star Phoebe Bridgers. I’m sure he’s near the top of most casting agents lists for that type. He’s got a bit of time before he needs to run towards Marvel.

Agents do a lot of work other than negotiate (selling you, finding projects, etc). But even within negotiations and contracts they’ll sort most of details, allowing the star’s in person requests carry more weight.

Requests and demands are a lot more powerful coming from the actor directly for a number of reasons. Also a lot of agents have a “well that’s just how it works” attitude.

I don’t know how much mileage there is in adapting the comic. It’s only 64 pages long and focuses on Batman who won’t be in this show. And the Joker who may or may not be in this show. Hopefully they keep creepy puking bugs lady and some of the backstory though.

I was a bit confused by the figures. The subheading says he planned to lose 75% of the staff, so I went with that.

I’m no business genius, but I can't see how getting rid of three quarters of your workforce is going to make your product better.

I don’t know about jobs depending on it.  They were on day 12 of a 21 day shoot, they’re moving to a new state and it’s months later so most crew will be working elsewhere. So a lot of the below the line crew aren’t likely to come back.

It’s so funny (well infuriating) to me that royalists pretend the Crown is in any way harsh to the Royal family. Even ignoring the many scandals it omits, it does things like frame Elisabeth 2nd as some kind of champion of the working class against evil Thatcher’s policies, made her sympathetic to the guy who broke

I don’t know much about the situation, but given that he just got outed as an abuser in headlines around the world, of course he’d give her back control of everything. There are a lot of eyes on him.

Unless you’re in the VR business, there’s no need to get the Quest Pro, but I’ve spent hundreds of hours in the Quest 2 and it’s only a few hundred bucks. That said the PSVR2 looks super cool.

This is a big problem with streaming. I was at an industry presentation where they were breaking down all these numbers but the hours watched metric is both industry standard and fucking inscrutable.

Fun interview. Pedantic old man note: Carpenter already did a videogame soundtrack back in 1998 with Sentinel Returns. It’s pretty damn good, I’d love to hear him do more.

the idea that an “AI Bruce” is even possible for a longer-form project like a movie still feels patently unfeasible.”

It’d be very different if Robot Chicken was called the People's DC Superfriends. You're allowed to satirise as long as there's no market confusion. This is intentionally blurring that line ("an illegal comic book movie")

Bit obscure but Charlie Brooked did a couple of series of a show called Touch of Cloth, which was essentially Naked Gun for gritty British dramas. It was great and deserves some post Black Mirror appreciation.

It’d be almost impossible for her not to seem lovely as the British media are effectively banned from ever saying anything critical of her. In the last year she gave her son 10 million quid of taxpayer money to cover up his Epstein connection and sexual abuse and there was barely a whisper.

Taylor’s work was all very tonally similar; serious prestige HBO drama where any humour is understated and probably wry. In retrospect, it's not surprising he wasn't a great guy for a Marvel movie. Shakman has shown he can handle anything from Thrones to Always Sunny. Wandavision alone involved arguably showed more

Unlawful for you or me? Almost certainly. Unlawful for a rich, famous white person? Probably not.

It’s a shame Zuckerberg Metaverse nonsense has made VR sound so shit. VR is in its early days but it’s awesome. Mostly for games at the moment, but some of the video stuff is cool too. There are some pretty great filmed 360 concerts to check out. But all the mainstream coverage is creepy Wii level avatars floating in

Seconded. Like nothing else on TV. It played in about 5 different genres at once and made me laugh and cry a bunch.
