Wasn’t that disparity the point of all their very funny interactions in Infinity War? Quill being out alpha’ed on every level would be a really fun new angle for Guardians 3.

Yeah, any one of those things (near future scifi, normal family affected by contemporary politics, espionage thriller, compelling soap, story lasting 15 years) is a bloody hard writing challenge. That he throws them all into the mix at once is incredible.

Yeah, i always thought it was unfairly maligned. It’s not up there with the best things Boyle or DiCaprio have done but it’s a lot of fun.

Well yeah, that's kinda the problem with reviewing a 6 part serial by watching 4 parts. It does get dark but that's kinda how drama works.

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Can’t say I agree with this review at all. I’ve seen all six and I think it’s amazing. It’s not for everyone, as the scale and ambition necessitates some big leaps chronologically and tonally, but it’s like nothing else I’ve seen.

Hey, De Palma has Carrie, Untouchables, Scarface, Blow Out, Carlitos Way and Mission Impossible, even if you don’t like the trashier ones.

They’ve released quite a lot of footage now and yet suspiciously little with anyone talking or singing on camera. I presume it looks terrible because photo real animals can’t be a fraction as expressive as cartoons. So that may be an issue.

Poor analogy or not, his argument is right. There was a point where Marvel comics had to scan every page of every back issue for their archives, even tho there were torrents of their compete library floating around the net.

I am ‘in the biz’, just not Thrones. I’m mostly a writer/director on local scripted stuff. So I’ve never been on the Thrones set, but a good two thirds of crew people I’ve worked with have.

Yeah, though Thrones was notorious for involuntary overtime (some directors more than others). Also because of location shooting, there was usually a lot more commuting at the start and end of the day than something like Line of Duty.

I know at least a dozen people who worked on Thrones and it’s always been a super tough shoot every season. Filming days run 12 to 14 hours for months in end and because our weather is shite, you’re frequently outdoors in the rain in freezing temperature. The last season was worse because it was largely night shoots

I’m torn. Brubaker is exciting but Refn doesn’t do much for me. The thing is tho, Brubaker does tight plotting and solid character work, but from the review it seems like Refn’s disinterest in both drown them out. Which is a shame.

Aw, I'm gutted to hear that. It's a brilliant comic, but I've only been reading in trades so I didn't know it had stopped. That's a real shame.

The problems aren’t the fundamentals tho. Quiet overlooked woman becomes the most powerful person in the universe, but that power corrupts. Then her lover and closest friends have to try and take her down, wondering how far they’ll go, before she ultimately commits suicide in her boyfriends arms. On the moon. Also a

What does “Art is dead” mean? When did it die? Was it long before movies? The same time? Was it a murder suicide thing?

spend it on getting the best writers in the business to create a really stellar story, with the expectation of having it rely less on CGI spectacle”

Yeah, for a guy who routinely handles massive budgets, Singer is shit a sense with scale. Superman Returns was one of the most expensive films ever made (270million) and does not look it. Jack the a giant slayer cost almost 200 mill. But you’re right, his movies have a very underpopulated backlot feel.

Yeah, there’s tons of the comics story that is problematic in a very Claremontian way, but you don’t need to make it beat for beat retelling. The broad strokes are a Shakespearian story of someone corrupted by power. I always thought the biggest weakness of Dark Pheoneix is that Jean doesn’t really have relatable

Sorry, you’re right. It’s been a few decades since I read it.
