The taxi companies didn’t want it! This app was developed in SF, a city with notoriously terrible taxis who (up until Uber existed) had no qualms with leaving you stranded without a ride. The first time I used Uber was to get a ride to the airport because the taxi, which I’d scheduled a day ahead, never showed up.
