Back in the early 2000's when I was still in high school, my mom tried to swap cars with me when I was visiting a family friend. My 15 year old Jeep was stalling on occasion and she wanted me to drive the Camry wagon instead since it would be safer.
The taxi companies didn’t want it! This app was developed in SF, a city with notoriously terrible taxis who (up until Uber existed) had no qualms with leaving you stranded without a ride. The first time I used Uber was to get a ride to the airport because the taxi, which I’d scheduled a day ahead, never showed up.
