So why don't those countries do those things?

Yeah, Google selling Motorla off really bums me out.

I know, that was my first thought too. That first paragraph really says all there is to say about why we don't use the metric system in the USA.

I had the same concern about battery life when I bought my Moto X, but it lasts all day on a single charge just fine. I think the key is the second chip running on very low power. In fact, the battery life FAR surpasses my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (which probably doesn't say much since that phone had terrible battery

If they lift up the bag, they're gonna know there are chips in there - staples or not.

But it is better for the plants to get the water from the leaf down. Less destruction of the soil around the plants for one thing to use a watering can over the plants instead of just dumping water into the pot. Of course, this item is just silly when a bottle top punched with hole would do just as well.

Yeah, but I guess I expect some evolution in technology with a successor craft. I think the main difference that I didn't pick up on initially that others in this thread did, is the focus on crew transportation without the cargo space of the old shuttle. The mission is different - so it's not exactly a successor. This

Oh wow! Cool side by side graphic.

Not sure if you're saying that i'm missing the big picture or if the OP is. I actually think this is pretty amazing and about time too. I don't think we utilize the ISS nearly enough.

Well, not totally different. The old shuttle was often a transport carrier to and from the ISS. Sure this new shuttle doesn't appear to have the cargo room to be deploying satellites, so yes, there is some difference in mission.

But the previous shuttles were lifted off with two massive rockets. Sure they were recovered, refurbished, and re-used, but essentially the shuttles rode on two massive rockets and a fuel tank. I guess I don't see why this is so different in your mind.

Yeah, I can see this happening to me too. I can't go anywhere without my prescription lenses. If I NEVER intended to record a film using Glass (which I wouldn't), I probably would just go right on in to the theater without even thinking of changing my Glass out for regular glasses. Dumb? Maybe... Maybe not.

They were prescription glasses. Likely he wasn't even thinking "hey I have a recording device on my face" when he went into the theater. Dumb, maybe. But I've been wearing glasses since I was three years old; I don't think about them unless they're off of my face.

I'm DYING from this comment. DYING!

Is "BEER" replacing "ICE CR[EAM]" in the second panel a subtle nod against temperance?

First, there is no federal ban on trans fat yet - though there will be soon. Yes, it's banned in some places, like NYC, but McDonald's took the step to remove trans fats from their menu voluntarily.

I didn't say it couldn't be done, just that it isn't easy. And yes the evidence against trans fat would have helped make my point. However, I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, that all McDonalds have stopped using trans fat.

I like that! Thanks.

You're partially correct in my Appeal to Nature - it is a knee jerk response. And sure there can be healthful meals to be had at McDonald's - and I completely advocate that people should not deny themselves things that they like as the only means to a healthier person - which means, yes, have that fast food once in
