Even the name "McMahon" is on-the-nose.
I don't think so. He did "Environmental Science," which is the one where Chang is separated from his wife. But if he also did that episode, then that's also great.
I'm glad that I wasn't the only one put off by this episode. It's not bad, and there are some really inspired moments—specifically, the stuff with his dad, as always—but it felt really aimless. That said, if this is any show's weakest outing, you're doing a lot right.
That's too bad, but mostly a shock. The Get Down is a neat story. Given the cliffhanger we got, it doesn't make much sense, but I don't know. Maybe Netflix will give it a Serenity of sorts.
I forgot about Identity Thief and Four Christmases. Not great, those ones. He also directed what might be my second or third favorite episode of Community. In fact, his TV work is pretty strong. But I don't know. Maybe he's just not suited for comedies? Maybe he needs a better writer?
"Washed up Olympian…" *sigh*
Sometimes the heavier moments don't work, but I can't remember the last time I saw a special that felt this fresh, and goddamn, this is hilarious.
To be fair, UKS just barely dropped. If there's any justice, Alec Baldwin won't even be nominated.
This, in my mind, is unquestionably the show's best episode—though, I feel there are ardent fans of "Parents," "Mornings," and "Thanksgiving." Even in its stronger moments, Master of None, in all its unforced earnestness, can lean a little too hard into sentimentality. Like the review says—this is a perfect ode to a…
I mean, yeah.
I had a stepdad who was like Donald Trump, so, as much as I am irritated at Melania for enabling this guy, I get why she sticks around. It's not great, but part of me feels for her.
Oh, boo hoo. Lots of people really like a thing you did, and they want to know if you'll keep doing it. As much as I love Ansari, this is patently silly.
No joke—was surfing Wikipedia to see if Sedaris was going to be releasing anything soon, and didn't find anything. Best surprise all day.
There's a whole section of the public that'll think Janelle Monae was the girl from the fun. song that got into acting out of nowhere, despite the fact that her albums are among the most critically acclaimed of the decade. Oh well. "Tightrope" and "Dancehall Apocalyptic" are dynamite.
I don't know. I'm pretty sure Woody Harrelson was invented in a GE lab as part of a cast replacement experiment.
This episode is going to win Tituss Burgess an Emmy, no question.
My only thought as I read through this. That's complicated, though. He's so good, but his death arguably gave us Woody Harrelson.
Without giving away too much, this happens more and more, and it really draws attention to itself with repetition. This scene works well enough, but uh… Ansari isn't much of a dramatic actor.
The Other Guys is the one that I love most of his. The Big Short is his most direct—this, the film that constantly breaks the fourth wall to explain banking—but The Other Guys might be his funniest. The only one that I really couldn't get into was Anchorman 2, and even the first one has aged quite a bit. Other than…
