I can’t imagine making this my criteria for a sports car.

Camaro SS 1LE and save $10k is another option.

I drive my wife’s Cayenne a lot without any problems. On a couple test drives I found a Camaro hard to place on the road and to park. It’s combination of the size and the bad visibility.

It’s an enthusiast site.

Am I the only one who finds the Golf numb and boring to drive? For a hatch try the Focus ST or Mazda 3. For a sedan, an E90 328i or 330i is fantastic. They’re under $15k so put the savings towards maintenance and repairs. A 335i is equivalent to $20k no matter what the purchase price.

this is the pedantic f&f content I’m here for.

Throttle response? Also, weren’t you complaining about aftermarket-ness somewhere else? ;)

Ohlins coilovers are fantastic. Improves on ride and handling. Expensive though. The stock shocks are very good too.

That engine in an S2000, yes. I meant the entire Z4M. An interesting I6 would be the N52 from the 328/330. It’s aluminum and probably lighter than the S2000’s four cylinder. It probably be a little bit over the front axle but not much. I think it would be the perfect amount of hp and torque.

Punch it 3.3 liters and you’ve got a BMW Z4M. You’ll have to forgive a couple cylinders hanging over the axle.

Rx-8 is an S2000 four seat coupe.

Isn’t the price just inflated to make customers think they’re getting a better deal on the lease which is how most of these will be “purchased”?

I have short commutes and the i3 would probably work for me. I have a cheap Mini now that does virtually all the same things now as an i3. It does like 450 miles per tank. I guess I’d save money on gas with an electric though I’m not spending much on gas now. I think this is the car by definition for people with short

I think people understand what works for them. I use the backseat in my Mini about once to twice a month, sometimes less. I absolutely need it even if it’s rare.

The i3 sells about 5000 units a year in the US and many (the majority?) of those are “range extenders” with gas tanks. They sell better a little Europe where people don’t drive as far. From the standpoint of a big company like BMW who needs to sell millions of cars, I don’t see the point in a car that sells a few

You’re right it’s a city car. It works for you and a few others. There’s a tiny market for these. Why are they doing it is the question.

I’m going to defend and disparage Mini on this. They are only slightly bigger than the first gen from BMW. Something like two inches wider and seven inches longer. They’re still smaller than a Fiesta as others have noted. Weights are up a little. Compared to other brands they’ve done a good job keeping size and weight

It won’t go far towing 5000 lbs.

Pretty late reply. This sounds like a lot of work to be reliable. It sounds like 1920’s stuff that people had to do make their cars go, not the details precisely but the level of bother and conscientiousness. My S2000 I just drive and change the oil. I still want an RX-8. Brilliant to drive.

Not a truck guy myself but always glad to see people enjoying their cars and using them to the fullest. Enjoy the Taco(ma)!
