S2ki is a great community. I love the Car Talk forum.

It’s great to see an auto maker try something different. Everything else looks alike. Most trucks, SUVs and crossovers look just like the other ones in their segment. They all copy each other. It seems like people hate every new car design even when it’s just the slightest tweak on the old one. Credit Doug DeMuro who

He said safari R8, not Donk R8. This is better though.

Or don’t take on Boxster and chase lap times and just make a great manual NA car. Works for the 86 and Miata. This is what I would want anyway. I’m not sure they would sell many.

I wish you could have compared the ride to the non-Shelby Mustangs. The branding is spot on for a comfy, soft car that goes straight quick.

I get that but this car is almost meaningless except in name. Just odd how the alone matters to some. If Toyota rebadged a Corvette or 911 or even M2, I’d get it. This is a middling BMW.

Obviously these stories about trivial Supra things get clicks* which I find weird. I’m in my forties and became interested in cars five years ago so the Supra name means almost nothing to me. Moreover the name itself carrying such importance to so many when this iteration is just rebadged Z4 which is just a two-seat 3-

See if the E90 M3 works for you. If you liked the engine in your S2000 the S65 is that on steroids. 414 horsepower with an 8400 rpm redline. With your budget maybe look at the newer generation with the turbo 6 cylinder. I don’t think any car with 3 pedals does a better job of combining sport, luxury and practicality.

Easily the fastest feeling 248 hp I’ve felt in a car that size. There’s little turbo lag, throttle response is great, its torquey down low and transmission is probably the best in its class. There’s no waiting for the trans to kick down. Feels faster than a lot of 300 hp cars.

The internet tells me it’s 185 lbs lighter but 3230 is still not “light” by for a two seat sports car.

Z4M felt downright spacious next to my Honda S2000.

Not that hard to learn and well worth doing. It’s way more engaging. I was 40 when I learned.

Pushing the definition of small but others have mentioned the Caddy LS engine cars. Surprised no one has mentioned the current gen Camaro SS. It has a literal big engine 6.2L LT1 V8 with 455 horses and torques and with none of that forced induction nonsense. They’re approaching $25k. A real sports coupe too with LSD,

probably the winner of the sub-$12k category at least for “i” version if not the “is”. An absolute monster with a tune.

that sucks. G37 Sedan with manual is legitimately rare. only 18 for sale in the whole country. They seem to go for a decent premium over the automatics. $10k might be hard to do unless the miles are higher. I had a good experience with mine and my wife has an EX35 that we’ve driven from about 78k miles to 114k miles.

I believe the E39 M5 had the same body panels as the other E39s with the one exception the part around the tail pipes since the M had 4.

I like Doug. I think of him as thequirks and features” guy and not so much a reviewer who can break down how a car drives. Luckily there’s a lot of channels out there who are focused on the driving so I think there’s a place for a guy who does walk arounds and shows the tech and stuff like that.

$10k Dad Car Challenge. Infiniti G37. As a car I think it gives you a lot of what you get in a BMW 3 or 5 series. The engine is fantastic 330 hp and revs to 7500 rpm. You can get them in manual or auto. Even the Nav system is still decent by today’s standards. I had a G35 when I was toting around three in car seats

I was a dad in your position once. When we had kids I got an Infiniti G35. For a while I had a booster seat and two car seats in the back. Fitting strollers was not a problem so I didn’t need a wagon. Wagons are cool but that really limits the selection. The Caddy and the E63 are nice but I’m not sure that all that
