it's because those vids are from Goodguys events. They basically throw safety out the window by lining their lots with jersey barriers and then sending people out in 1,000hp cars without helmets. The othe side of the coin, SCCA sanctioned events, have to have so much runoff room that a helmet shouldn't be needed, but…

In some states its only recommended not required. It's weird and i personally would still run with a helmet.

Most guys who do stuff like this with these swap in LSx platforms and T56's, or they swap in an LT1 type T56 which will bolt to any old school chevy block. I have a 350 with a T56 attached to it.

Fox Mustangs and third gen Camaros both had T5 five speed manual transmissions. Those transmissions can be made pretty sturdy. Also, the bellhousing for a 305 and a 350 is the same. They are both small blocks.

Solid rear axle is stronger than IRS, so you would think drifters would love the rear end. However, the one weak link in the camaro 4th gen was that it came with the rear end from the Chevy S10 and therefore cannot handle the power of the v8 for burnouts or drifts.
