I actually saw something similar to that in Madison, Wisconsin. Considering that Wisconsin was a Union state during the war, that seemed weird to me, but then I thought maybe a veteran had moved North some time after the war. I suppose a lot of veterans did go out West as well.

Here's the thing, in terms of pure aesthetics, they may be legitimately nice-looking statues. In that sense they may have real artistic value. But perhaps we should replace them with "beautiful" statues of people who didn't betray their country and fight a very bloody war to protect slavery.
