I am conflicted. I hate watching baseball, especially on TV. But the languid pace is part of the appeal of watching it in person. Going to the ballpark and chilling out for 7 hours with 10 beers and 56 hot dogs is the entire point. The actual sportsball playing is ancillary to the experience.
I'm sorry if you've had bad experiences, but it's not fair to ascribe the most reactionary aspects of Islam to all of Islamic society (which is huge and obviously diverse). It's not really any different than ascribing the most extreme aspects of Christianity to all of Christian society.
