Oh I get it, it’s a totally valid mechanic, just one that I don’t personally enjoy. I don’t like time pressure in games, in any context. The mod that the other comment mentioned is definitely more in line with how I'd prefer to play. 

I wonder if moving away from an exclusivity model would help mitigate this. Sony of all companies should be acutely aware of the perils of tying up resources in anything proprietary or exclusive.

I agree that he has been a juggernaut loved by masses. I for one, find him to be an absolute talentless storyteller (not being hyperbolic, for me, he is in the same conversation as Wisseau or Breen) and a few others do too, despite enjoying his games mechanically.

He receives a lot of unearned breathless praise, but he is not gaming biggest punching bag. David Cage might be closer.

Banner Saga is an odd comparison to me, it’s a cartoon. I can definitely see how the art is devisive, but it is basically a perfect recreation of manuscript illumination from around the 12th century, down to the fonts. Not for everyone, but it’s successful in doing the thing it set out to do.
