I saw this in the NY Times and was waiting for Jezebel to report on it. It’s so sick how they’re treating her. Thinking of her misery, her suffering with mental illness and no support in prison-it’s disgraceful.

There is evidence that her mental problems proceeded her arrest. So the real question is why did the military allow someone who is mentally unstable to handle classified information? Don’t they screen for mental instability?

Unless you can prove that Manning is being treated any different than anyone else who committed the same crimes and who is repeatedly attempting suicide, being put in solitary for that is a non-story.

I think there’s a time and place for solitary confinement in prisons, but this isn’t it. Putting someone in solitary confinement as punishment for attempting suicide is illogical and counterproductive. Fort Leavenworth should end that practice immediately.
