Yes, police treated me like absolute shit when I called for help, but when WoC call for help, they frequently get beaten, sexually assaulted, or killed by the cops. (This is documented) But without cops, it’s nearly impossible to safely leave sometimes. It's a goddamn mess.

Because some people are confused. if you are uncertain if your partner’s actions are romantic or abusive just remember romantic is something that is done FOR you and not TO you.

Trying to control someone to this extent is scary af. And sometimes contraband searches can be frankly inhumane. It doesn't sound like hers was but this guy should not be let off the hook based on her forgiving him, this is a dangerous thing to do.
