yeah, there’s a whole undercurrent of tension in the show that despite their wealth and apparent success, joel and midge’s families are not exactly part of the ruling class.

My biggest criticism of the show is that it is non-Jews performing oy-vey-schticky Jewishness. Neither she nor Tony Shalhoub are Jewish. They couldn’t find Jews for these roles?
Because that wouldn’t fit her narrative 🙄
How do you write a review of the show and not mention that it’s specifically about a Jewish woman? Weird.
Little details do matter in world building and can be a distraction. But sure, the hair on Kree/wherever is the exact same as 2018 USA. Enjoy the movie.
I just;;;; I just really needed this today;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;_;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
At least in the last one her hair was short enough not to be a real issue- her long curls when she first showed up were ridiculous. And I LOVED Black Panther for how the guard women dressed and had shaved heads- very practical.
Or it could just be that that scene was set in Bend, Oregon, where the last Blockbuster is still open.
I got about 3 episodes into this show and just couldn’t continue watching. Everything Megan describes here is accurate based on my limited viewing (“fluffy” is right). The campy 1950s nostalgia made me feel like I was watching a play at times and I guess that’s what Sherman-Palladino was going for? Not my thing but…
YES! Watching the Avengers I have no problem believing that there are superpowers formed from gamma radiation, magic shields, and aliens but watching Scarlett Johansen’s perfect blowout in slo-mo twirling through the air like she’s in a goddamn shampoo commercial when she’s supposedly fighting while undercover in 100…
“Did the aliens brainwash away a lifetime’s worth of practical haircare knowledge?”
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has some great characters but is somehow less than the sum of it’s parts.
I think GLOW will do better next year because this year, its noms were for the first season. S2 was even better and I want Gilpin, Brie, Maron, and Chris Lowell to all be nominated (and Anabella Sciorra for Guest Actress)!
1. Glow and Bojack Horseman were robbed.
Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is one of those shows that doesn’t look terribly interesting but wins awards.
I fucking love Thandie Newton and I’m soooo happy she won!! But Sandra Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ughhhhhhhh ://////
They prefer the term “hill-Williams”.
What does this even mean? It says spoiler three times.
