Oprah has no qualifications for the presidency. Then again, neither does the current guy.

For what it’s worth (not much), Beto is VASTLY more qualified than the incumbent, so there’s that. Also, losing by only 2-3% to any Republican in Texas is nothing to sneeze at. That said, it’s true that much of Beto’s support comes from fairly shallow/superficial reasons, e.g. he’s young, good-looking, articulate,…
That was one of the most pathetic attempts at mansplaining soccer I’ve seen in a while (which is saying something).
Frankly, it seems like your quarrel should with your husband and not this 13-year-old girl.
Her multiple references to “ramming” make her husband sound like one of those guys whose entire sexual repertoire is basically just...
As I mentioned above, the “death drive” thing may be a reference to Freud (see here).
The author may have been making a vain attempt to invoke Freud’s concept of the “death drive” (see here).
Seriously, an average high-school newspaper article is better edited than this post.
“Journalism.”
What happened to “when they go low, we go high” (as Michelle Obama exhorted us to do)? The implication of your comment (and Anna Merlan’s article above) is that if Trump and Gingrich were more fit and conventionally attractive, they would somehow be more justified in fat shaming Machado and more generally criticizing…
At least Natalie Portman has a college degree. I don’t think Professor Jolie even finished high school.
Oh, I agree. The only possibly positive spin on this is if she was instrumental in getting this program off the ground in the first place, thus enabling other actually-qualified people to take over and do legitimate research and teaching on this topic after she’s done playing professor.
Seriously, I don’t doubt her good intentions here, and maybe this enables a program to get off the ground that might not have without her name behind it, but Angelina Jolie is about as qualified to be a professor at LSE as Donald Trump is to be President of the United States.
I didn’t think you were consciously boasting about your privilege, but merely noting that that’s how it can come across.
Personally, what I often find off-putting about white people (and other privileged groups) “acknowledging their privilege” by saying things like “it is nice to have that privilege” is that it ends up coming across as a humblebrag that accomplishes little besides flaunting said privilege in the face of those who don’t…
Pro tip: Don’t say anything. This isn’t about you. No one (least of all your black neighbors) cares about your white guilt or how awkward all of this makes you feel. If you “can just feel it in their eyes” when you pass on the stairs, you’re either projecting and/or they’re seeing right through your patronizing Good…
A lot of “Bernie Bros” were angry, white, millennial males who unwittingly (or, in some cases, perhaps wittingly) helped Trump stoke the fires of anti-Hillary sentiment.
Sorry, I misunderstood you. But judging from the comments here, there do seem to be a lot of people who seem resentful that this is getting any attention, which seems highly unreasonable and unrealistic. I don’t think Hillary did herself any favors by not allowing any reporters to follow her when she left the event.…
I’m a Hillary supporter (and am literally disgusted by the mere prospect of a Trump presidency), but I think it’s unreasonable to say that the media (and even the Trump campaign) putting attention on this episode is merely an attempt to “distract and detract.” The health of a presidential candidate is of legitimate…
