Well, are you familiar with Castlevania at all?
Well, are you familiar with Castlevania at all?
Who says you play as Dracula?
Way more interested in the 3DS metroidvania, but this could be fun, too.
And then be relieved if it's announced with a single analog stick still?
Nah, Other M was pretty much 3D. If they pull this off right it should hopefully play more like Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles.
It's 2.5D. With an exploration focus. Probably the best we could have hoped for from MercurySteam.
Wait.
Crysis 2? That sounds like Crysis 2 to me. Or Duke Nukem Forever.
I don't see Order of Ecclesia as a metroidvania, given it consists of multiple, straightforward stages.
First off: Michiru Yamane was involved in Bloodlines, Symphony of the Night, Lament of Innocence, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia, Curse of Darkness, had guest tracks in Harmony of Dissonance and had remixes of her work in Harmony of Despair. That's a little more than two games
The metroidvania style has been on a break for 5 years now <_<
Unless the entire gameplay mechanic changes to be heavier and less focussed on light blows, and the music turns Japanese in style, I doubt it gets CV enough for my taste :p
Order of Ecclesia was hardly a metroidvania, it was entirely forward areas. Neither was Adventure Rebirth, it was a full old-style Castlevania, if a not-very-good one. And neither was Harmony of Despair, it was a.. thing. A not metroidvania thing far more in line with the sidescrollers.
I've argued this before. I'm pretty sure you were involved.
Konami is run by monkeys.
Lords of Shadow was a decent game, but it didn't feel like Castlevania at all. It's like if LittleBigPlanet was billed as a Mario sequel.
Agreed. So agreed. Lords of Shadow was a decent game, but not Castlevania.
.. But there hasn't been a Metroidvania since Portrait of Ruin. 5 years ago.
Except it's not by IGA. It's by the Lords of Shadow people.
Ugh. It's official, Lords of Shadow has replaced Castlevania.
