So my mother found a new way of food policing / fat shaming me.

I know this is not the discussion-worthy subplot in that episode, BUT .... why does everyone always think it is better to raise a child in the suburbs? My stereotype of suburban kids is that they all drink and do drugs because it's so boring and there is nothing else to do. And they never get to eat good ethnic food...

An obnoxious Wire lover here. I was you at first - I hated it. I thought it was completely overrated. But after the first season, I started following it better, understanding who people were (there's about 1 million characters), appreciating everything. It takes patience. Please do it!!!

My friendship litmus test is whether someone likes Carrie.

This is me. I do this constantly and I am of the exact mindset that everything in my life would suddenly be perfect if only I could have a flat stomach. This leads to feelings of self-hatred for feeling fat and for feeling guilty that I care (I know I shouldn't).

It has been my observation in grad school that if you feel this way now, it will only get worse. It's never too late to start in a new field in academia. We have people who volunteer in our labs long after they get their B.A. If you could find a science lab to volunteer in to get some experience, suddenly your

What an all around awful situation. Please take solace in knowing that you have a fucking badass screen name

Anyone have recommendations for where to buy adult pants (i.e. dress pants, slacks, whatever real people call these) for women with wide hips and a tummy? It is impossible for me to find ones that dont bunch up all weird in the crotch and/or squeeze my big thighs and make them look even bigger... sigh...

You are definitely not the only one. I am exactly like this, and I love my SO because he doesn't care. Doggie style is another one I loathe for this reason. They make me way too aware of the gender power imbalance. (I swear this is no judgment to others who enjoy these positions, just a personal preference)

Ah yes, thank you for your rational and sophisticated analysis :)

So people are simultaneously hysterical about overpopulation of the developing world and declining birth rates in the developed world? What are the implications of these findings for immigrants who want to become US citizens? Forgive my oversimplicity, but can't all of these developed countries deal with their

Hold the phone. you were arrested in middle school for writing in a BLOG? Do you mind sharing how that even happened?

I would like this image on a t-shirt, which I plan to wear daily. Then maybe strangers (!) will no longer stop me on the street to ask what is wrong.

Yes!!! Ask me whats wrong, or why I'm not smiling, and the answer will go from "Nothing's wrong" to "You know whats wrong? YOUR face!" or something immature like that. Their pointing out my not-smiling/unhappy face will in turn make me annoyed. We should do a PSA and inform those who think they are being caring that

Does anyone else ever get annoyed when people always ask them "what's wrong" ...when in fact, nothing is? Seriously, random dudes at a bar, strangers on the street, my best friends all do this, all the time. Is it because they genuinely care? Maybe. But most likely, it's because I don't walk around with a huge cheesy

I agree that pride parades aren't winning over any conservatives. BUT the parades are a giant fuck you to the haters, and isn't that just so wonderful?

Remember after the virginia tech shooting, when tons of people changed their pictures to the VT logo? Yeah, that's happening now with penn state, except it's a picture of a nittany lion with a tear in it's eye. seriously people?

I'm not an alum but know many, many people who are. I must say I'm shocked more alumni aren't having your reaction. Many of my friends are making vague statements about how they "stand with Penn State" ... I get it, you don't want your university's reputation tarnished, but how can you "stand with" an institution

I stopped breathing when Hines got injured. If Troy had to pay 10k for calling his wife during a game, Ray Lewis better get fined out the ass for that helmet-to-helmet nonsense. No one hurts my Hines and gets away with it!

Any other Steelers fans watching the game tonight?
