I think at that point, Harry the Hat hadn’t been on Cheers for some time. In real life, I believe it was because Harry Anderson was busy with Night Court. On the show, it was insinuated he had been doing time.

The final season ep where Harry is responsible for Gary’s demolition is fantastic. Up there with him and Coach conning the card shark.

He was the nuclear option in the long war with Gary’s Old Towne Tavern.
