Ram Ecodiesel gets 23mpg combined, and diesel costs $3.60/gal. Thats $0.16/mile. Gas costs $2.78/gal, which means you only have to achieve 18mpg with gas to be cheaper to run.
Right now, diesel is over 30% more expensive than gas. Per mile the ecodiesel will require more money in fuel than its gas competitors.
Right now the Ram EcoDiesel is still the best bet for mileage and, while it doesn't have all the capabilities of the F-150, it clearly bothers Ford that they don't have the most efficient truck.
I'd have to differ on some of those points, although I agree the perception of trucks matches what you said. I can't stand the high seating position. The 4wd and stance helps prevent getting stuck in deep snow, but a fwd sedan or small CUV with winter tires is much more capable than a truck on snowy paved roads. …
A full size truck makes little sense in Europe, to the point where renting as needed would probably be much cheaper than owning. When parking is bountiful, fuel is half the price, the truck itself is much cheaper, towing 4000lbs behind a sedan at 50mph will get you run over, and a U-haul for an inter-state weekend…
Yep - that's why brodozer was #2. I'm defending the stock from the factory half ton. Very few people legitimately need a one-ton or a dually, and the ones I see driving around are usually either brodozed or have a gooseneck hitch in the bed.
It is an option, but logistically it is difficult and introduces liability and ownership issues. I have been in a similar arrangement for a track car, and essentially rent the truck from a friend now.
I would likely end up with something similar, but $16k is not second vehicle money. And even that is approaching the limits of where I would start worrying about things like brake lines, frame rust, transmission issues, etc. Those would be small issues around town, but 300 miles from home when I need to get the…
You know, I used to think the same way. Then you start to realize, a lot of people really do need that capability, if infrequently. I find myself needing to tow a car 400+ miles round trip every few months, sometimes over 1000. I have many friends in similar situations, whether with cars, boats, campers, whatever.…
Credit partyvi - I stole it from one of his posts over a year ago to use as my scree saver. :)
There's a thought - how many Chumpcar/Lemons/AER teams are there on Black Flag?
Not mine, just a nice picture of one.
Why do they keep reaching into the back of the kart?
