I disagree. I think it looks sillier than most. At least most superhero movies have a sense of self awareness about them evident in their trailers. A lightness and some humor. A sign that the film doesn't take itself too seriously. That's what's missing here. That's what makes it silly. These images of actors in

Man vs Wild isn't fake. It's a real TV show. It just happens to be mostly scripted. The stunts are real.

I've made the argument, when discussing True Detective, that Pizzolato can't write women. I think this show has the opposite problem. I don't think they can write men. Jeremy and Adam are such non-characters, yet the show somehow expects us to be invested in Rachel's relationships with both of these men. Rachel's only

Maybe in the real world everybody would go to jail and the show would be canceled, but on the other hand big corporations are really good at squirming their way out of trouble. My guess is that in the real world the show and its producers would only be investigated on criminal charges. I doubt anyone would face

I assume the reason True Detective is a boys club is because Pizzolato doesn't like to or doesn't feel comfortable writing women. Consider even Rachel McAdams character this season. Sure, she's a woman,
but she doesn't have a lot of feminine traits. She could easily have
been written as a man.

I can't bring myself to hate vice. Where you see sensationalism, I see basic storytelling competence. Something sorely missing in a lot of television journalism. The truth is Vice's flagship HBO show is probably the best news magazine show on TV. What do you prefer? Or do you just loathe the format?

The universe didn't take Mitch Hedberg. He overdosed on drugs after many years of addiction/abuse.

Yeah, that becomes very clear in the most recent episode.

A virgin mimosa would be orange juice mixed with a fizzy soft drink, right? It wouldn't be just orange juice. It would be orange juice and gingerale, for example.

I'm surprised at the backlash this episode is getting in the comments and the review. I thought it was a lot of fun. Not that I think suicide is fun or anything, but in the dark world this show has established, I think it's far from being over the line or anything like that. I thought it was a powerful dramatic moment

I don't think the two things are mutually exclusive. I think the show can be both dark and "popcorny". I'm enjoying the mix.

This show is trying to be important? I don't feel that. I think this show is trying to be a soapy, dark drama. Popcorn television, if you will.

I'm a week behind on this show so maybe its silly to comment but I wanted to take issue with this part of the review:

I was never really sold on Season 1. I watched it. I enjoyed it, especially Rust Cole. That said, I was constantly rolling my eyes at the writing. Season 2 is the exact same way to me except replace Rust Cole with Ferrel's character.

Is it a casting mistake if the role was written with him in mind?

My point is that that the character's response felt in character. It may not have been perfect, but it would have been wildly out of character for any of them to think fetching a CO was a good idea.

What do you mean, ignoring Sophia? The show didn't ignore her. Caputo and Pearson tried to get her out of SHU and when they failed it was a treated as a major dramatic moment.

She could rat Piper out. Although it would be unwise to do it on the spot in front of other inmates and without a lawyer. Once that happens there would have to be an investigation and it would be interesting to see if Piper's organization holds up. Maybe that's explored in the next season?

"If it were a man doing that to a woman, people would want him hanged."

Not cool. Maybe not. They are, however, in prison so that dictates the character's reactions. Poussey did immediately go to her prison mom/friend/confidant for help upon discovering Soso. Suzanne and Taystee who are not Soso's friends didn't react with much sensitivity but why would they? They did do right by Soso
