Today’s Tesla Shitpost... So the car that has 1,500,000 preorders vs the truck that can be had on any lot for 5-15k off sticker... SHOCKING. Great journalism. The truck in front is a Chevy.

I believe the phrase is “reamed her out.”
First of all, this is just horrible and as a husband and a dad - I can’t imagine. I also can’t help but think even if we say the Tesla design is a bit self-indulgent or gratuitous or penny-pinching - I fear something else was going on here.
Another day, another hack piece of “journalism” on this website. It’s a prop for Hyundai / Kia on one half and a shady take-down page against Tesla on the other. The reason the prices went down is because retail prices went down. The Bolt from that era had no federal money and now it’s got $7500. Same for the Teslas.…
Did you all really just compare a 3000 lbish Prius to a 10,000 Hummer and declair that EVs are less efficient than Hybrids??? Guess what! A cruise ship also uses more diesel fuel than a sail boat. Guess what else, Zendaya uses few calories than Lebron James! What is WRONG with this site?
The attempt to spin this into anything but a mega-profit vanity project for people who buy a work vehicle for its lack of utility is, um... generous? To me this is nicely designed but more than a little bit cringe. They should have called it the InstagRam
This to me seems like questionable psychology. If you drive a Porsche twin turbo V6 or V8 you are going to have thousands of dollars in maintenance and repairs over the years. If you blow a turbo at 85,000 miles, you’re probably looking at $5000 at least to get it repaired and running. A battery should be able to…
I’ve got 2 EVs and from my experience the loudest critics have the least sophisticated understanding of what living with them are like. They are just simply resistant to change and will latch on to any criticism they can find. Having said that, I don’t think EVs can be mainstream until a range of about 350 miles…
The Plaid you could buy with this money will have hundreds more horsepower, a warranty, a rear seat big enough for adults and about 60 miles more range. It also could be used for long drives. That is why it has lost so much value.
Why anyone would engage with a video that has a 3o second commercial every minute of content I cannot fathom. This used to be a really really good website. Now it’s part of the Hyundai/Kia marketing arm and occasionally posts a hate story about how crappy Tesla is or a video like this if you can stand watching 2 Kia…
Simply put: if you buy this, you’re going to lose your shirt. If you don’t care, whatever. It’s a free country for now, but SERIOUSLY you’re an idiot. There are so many things one could get with that money that are much better vehicles than this, even though it’s a nice design and all. Yikes.
I wouldn’t buy a car based on a promise by another company to get to use their hardware to compensate for a shortcoming in the design. The GT is now the same price as the Model Y Performance, tha.t then gets $7500 in tax credits, has 30 more miles of range, and can already charge easily just about anywhere you want to…
My wife drives a Sportage hybrid where the upcharge to a turbo 4 with the hybrid is about $1200 (though that may have changed). I think that this with a hybrid for another $1200 would be a spectacular bargain because it would probably get close to 40mpg and have space for a young family. But it’s great so far.
You know what would make more sense than all the diesel trains and all the long distance electric trucks? A damn train. A train that uses a fraction of the energy per ton of cargo, doesn’t destroy highways at 5000 times the rate. All those hidden costs would pay for the rail network to a large degree and the…
I believe this should be called the “Sad E.T.” yoke. Bonus points if the Infotainment responds to the name E.T.
The world does NOT need more cars like the Mirage. It’s a literal deathtrap in a wreck despite being pathetically slow.
A few suggestions: A Maverick Platinum with towing would be in the upper 30s, have a winter package, very good power, and a ton of utility. The upper tiers seem easier to find than a base hybrid. I think the rebates would get a Model Y, that unlike the Ionic and (which Jalopnik reflexively supplicates to) can be…
Of course it is!
When is the automotive press, that gets an almost fetishistic pleasure from slamming Tesla, going to learn? IT’S NOT THE PANEL GAPS IT’S THE CHARGER GAPS. Some poor fool pushing an EV6 GT while I drive past it in my M3P is not going to scream “BUT MY PANEL GAAAAAAAAPS!!!!” EVs are better than ICE cars. They pollute…
It’s none of that, and most of this is arbitrary anyway since finding a charger that actually works, connects to a car not named Tesla, and charges at full speed is as theoretical and cold fusion. Having said that, what they are doing here is taking the efficiency of the car per kw/hr and then how long it takes to…
