Is The Situation out of rehab? He'd love this thing.

I’ll have mine in blue please...

If that had happened she wouldn’t have scored...

Could you have gotten a higher millage warranty for a bit more? Or do you not tend to drive much? Your adventures are great reading.

Just needs a beer sponsor!

I’d say the car is very well made. Changes come slowly and gradually so issues get isolated. The maintenance schedule is hyper aggressive so the cars never suffer a lot of the indignities that a regular car would. And yeah, they give a damn. My dealership had me at the coffee machine. Seriously. It’s that good :-)

I have a 2010 Carrera S - if they did this for a "reasonable" price I'd go into debt again. My only demands are: 3 Pedals, the standard S-Engine, and a ducktail spoiler. Keep the option sheet as light as possible and no one-off crap that will make it expensive but not fun. Standard seats in black are fine. Power

Yes yes yes. Just a Carrera S engine, a stick, a stiff suspension. AC and a Stereo and some decent seats. NO OTHER CRAP.

Yeah but now BMW are building cars the same way as Acura/Honda/Mercedes etc. Not like Porsche.

I think you misunderstood my original point about the X1 - and that is that it is not like other BMWs. It is based on the Mini. It is a FWD platform that in this case is AWD. That means a transverse motor up front, and fundamentally FWD dynamics. Now for most manufactures this is absolutely ok - the packaging is

sdrive = rwd

Wait till something breaks. There is a difference. It is substantial. It is also probably worth it provided you don’t mind an SUV that is a lot smaller than what the Japanese and Americans give you for your dollar. It is a much better drive though, no doubt. But the X3 is a RWD chassis that isnt nose heavy. This X1 is

I love the derpy-eyed headlights though :-)

For a serious price - and the maintenance!

Sorry, cant resist - and going as slow as they do... it will represent a great photo opportunity! No blurs caused by pesky speed!

Considering the money, I don't blame you. I'm sure the BMW will be a very good FWD biased AWD CUV. But by stepping into waters like these - which will be a huge short-term success - BMW is compromising its identity. That is dangerous because really, plastics, a turbo and price are the main differences. The biggest

And Mazda even gives you more ground clearance than Accord! (Which I’m not at all sure this X1 has managed.)

I think they’re both handsome but if I were BMW I’d worry that our “look” was easy to recreate for $30,000... 3 years in advance.

Hello, officer - I’d like to report a kidnapping. Yes, yes I can tell it’s my child - the kidnappers haven’t even put him in a disguise!

I think VW had a cool idea here but missed it by about 2 inches of ride height. I’d encourage them to give it more lift.
