For ~$500, you could buy Blaupunkt’s new retro single DIN radio and get retro looks plus all modern tech like bluetooth/usb/aux/etc. and no screen which IMO is a plus.

Agreed. It’s a lot of decent shape classic car for the money and it doesn’t appear to need much to bring it further up to spec. That said comparing this to the VW Bus it competed with and I’ll take the Bus every time.
