The force awakens was mediocre leaning heavily toward bad. The last Jedi was simply bad.
But see, there’s Arcadia. Without spoilers, she’s a teen girl protagonist, written at a time when almost no one did that kind of thing, except maybe Frank Baum or Lewis Carroll. Granted she’s in book two, but she plays a huge part in the overall story of Foundation.

Because any film or show told wholly from the perspective of aliens, by definition different from and unrelatable to the human viewer, is doomed to be very noncompelling.
