Ok, but as someone who works in pharma, specifically in the drug development side of things, this is a pretty standard response to unexplained deaths and serious adverse events directly linked to a product. Just because vaping is cool* doesn’t mean that industry caution should be thrown out of the window at the

So the best case scenario here is that kids are getting potentially lifetime addictions to a substance that costs money, can be delivered in forms that are more available and more dangerous forms, have some level of unknown safety risks, and are propping up some of the most dangerous and morally bankrupt corporations

Thanks for sharing your highly scientific, unbiased report on a study of one (1) person.

There is this quote that is just so apt a response. Unfortunately I can’t recall where I saw it, so I can’t cite it properly, but if I remember correctly it was something like, “plural of anecdote is not ‘data’.” Damn, I wish I

Yeah, for comparison’s sake, here are the youth smoking numbers up until Juul became popular and sent it back upward again. If you went to high school in the ‘90s or ‘00s, you probably have an unrealistic conception of how many high schoolers smoke cigarettes these days. It had fallen off a ton.

Amazing that you don't see the irony in your comment.

The problem is vapes being directly targeted to children to get them addicted. Are ya’ll really all this obtuse?

Adults can choose.

no people vape indoors all the time, its gross

It should be as severely regulated as nicotine products.  Simple as that.

To be fair:

There are some really fucked up orphanages in Eastern Europe. I taught a young girl who had no sense or right or wrong, just survival skills.

I think there’s also a difference between what she’s saying (“why the @$&! won’t you all listen to the scientists who have been providing evidence for over 30 years!”) and home schooled wunderkids who are touted by conservatives (“because it feels like it should be this and also Christian values read the Bible!”).

She’s an adoptive child (person?), though, and we know nothing about her background.

Of course the reason moms just get shit done is because they often have no choice. Even the most progressive, well-meaning fathers simply don’t engage in the same way as a mother because women are socially trained from the youngest age to carry the mental load of everyone else’s problems, while men have been trained

This story, and Jezebel’s response, is so frustrating to me as an adoptive parent. The damaged adoptee is a harmful but widely accepted trope that this story and post are promoting. The fucking “parents” want to center themselves as victims after a black market adoption. They claim they didn’t ask questions of the

And you just know how much angrier it makes them to KNOW they cannot say EXACTLY what they want about this amazing person.

People do care more because she is a little blonde white girl from a European country. At least she is using her influence to do the right thing. Honestly there are Black and Brown kids all over the world fighting for climate change. These people should uplift their voices too rather than tear down this girl.

Those parents sound like they’re full of shit when it comes to her likely age when they abandoned her, though.

The Children of the Corn attack was obviously a swipe at Greta’s neuro difference. That’s the unholy depths that these full-grown people have sunk to.

On Fox News on Monday night, Michael Knowles, a conservative troll and Daily Wire podcast host, described Thunberg as a “mentally ill Swedish child” who is “being exploited by her parents and by the international left.” Then there’s John Nolte of Breitbart, who calls supporters of Thunberg “Gretards” and recently muse
