There is always miles to go. But to discount the miles we’ve already traveled is to ignore things that work, and then those things get discarded, and I don’t want to have to rewalk those miles because we aren’t already at the finish line.

Sitting inside the VA, there’s a lot more work getting attention, and a lot more people and systems in place to do the work. Is this place perfect? Hell no. BUT it’s improved, even if it’s PR isn’t, and part of that is the stink from handling messes.

One of the reasons this is showing up now is that Obama pushed to clear up the giant backlog of bush era claims and get the agency running smoothly, these kinds of dependent issues were back burner until that shit was cleaned out.

God yes. Dependency changes get short changed to deal with the influx of original disability claims, then they get processed and shit can leak. See a lot of these (hi fellow VA employee!), but at least if the vet tells us on time we can write off a big portion of it. Sigh. Hope he asks for a waiver.
