Funny how worried he is about disrespecting a man, but he has no problem doing far worse to women.

That is exactly what we do.  Our “necessities” includes everything including like long-term saving, or even saving for our 10 year anniversary trip, so the vast majority of the money is in our joint account and only minimal in our personal accounts, but still, it works for us.  

My partner and I have a weird system -- we both have our own account, but we have a joint account we put money into for The Necessities. That way, we both feel like we have Personal Money, but then there’s “Our Money” for things we both own together. It works.

I was married for 20 years, and I will always have my own bank account, even if I get remarried. I’ve been very clear with my boyfriend about this.
