Trump’s reaction to the vote: “Shit guys, I actually have to do this for real? Like actual work?? I kinda just wanted some attention and to start my own TV channel where I could just talk about myself and winning all day.”

Voting is a privilege and an obligation, not some whiny demand that others do the work to inspire you enough to get off the damn couch.

Only half of eligible voters actually voted.

I’m not sure, I haven’t seen anyone report the turnout for different groups, just the overall 50% turnout rate.

I’m pissed that more white women didn’t vote for Hillary too, but please if we have learned anything from this election it is to stop with the blatant misinformation! 53% of all white women did not vote for Trump! 53% of white women WHO TURNED OUT TO VOTE voted for Trump. Which is still crap, but considering half the

Yeah but it was only funny when we all thought Trump could never win. Not really so funny anymore.

53% of white women who showed up to vote supported Trump- but that is not the same as 53% of ALL white women. I really think this was mostly a turnout problem, because the white evangelicals kept their eyes on the prize and came out big for Trump in order to have the Republicans nominate the next Supreme Court

I’m sure many of them were, but he won over 50% of white women WHO VOTED. Considering half the country didn’t even bother to show up (thanks guys!) it’s hard to tell the overall percentage of women who did vote for him.

Does anyone know how many people in each group actually voted? Half the population didn’t vote at all- this isn’t 53% of ALL white women, it’s 53% of white women who actually showed up to vote. Which is still bad, but I do feel like this is a little misleading without knowing the turnout rate.

I think there were emails that showed that the DNC, or at least some of its leadership, wasn’t thrilled with him, sure. Which I don’t understand why people thought that was so shocking considering everyone knew he had only joined the party the previous year just to run and basically to try to make some kind of point.

No they weren’t. Hillary won the primary because more people voted for her. The DNC didn’t rig it, and if Hillary was really so corrupt and great at stealing elections I’m pretty sure she would have stolen this one too and we wouldn’t be having this conversation. But that isn’t how it works. The system wasn’t rigged,

No I haven’t, I do think he was really trying to make up the damage that had been done during the primary, but it was too little too late and we all knew it.

Well first, I think the percentage they are using is a little misleading. Half the country didn’t vote at all- so it isn’t 53% of all white women who voted for Trump, I’m assuming they mean of white women who did vote, 53% voted for him. Which is still really bad, but it’s unclear to me what percentage of all white

But much of the criticism wasn’t fact-based, that’s the point. Most of it was wildly overblown or just plain bullshit.

How is it ethically appropriate to vote for an idiot?

Bernie Sanders owes the world an apology today. Not for running, which is anyone’s right, but for not stopping the irrational hate and conspiracy theories earlier on and for insisting on fighting to the convention even after it was clear he had lost. I hope he will never forgive himself for what he has done.

My moronic Bernie or Die friend who wants to “burn it all to the ground” (burn what, who knows, to what? no idea but that’s cool!) keeps posting all this bullshit on FB about how Sanders would have saved us, the revolution is beginning, smug democrats, blah blah.

As much as I love Michelle Obama, it annoys the crap out of me when people say they aren’t sexist because they would totally vote for a woman if Michelle was running, as if this makes them more enlightened than the rest of us “fake” liberals. I hope that Michelle does go the Clinton route and get involved in politics
