There it is.
There it is.
This seems like a very odd take. If you want a classic Porsche to be kept classic - go buy one and do it.
An official Porsche head unit installed in a classic Porsche just made that car even better to live with on a daily basis which means we get so see them on the road more instead of collecting dust in a garage. Nothing is getting ruined here, and none of these changes are permanent. It would take all of 10 minutes to…
its cool they do this. and for a not insane price tag.
What the fuck lmao
What’s a “classic”? Where’s the line?!??
I was driving cars in the 80's and I now see people fawn over “classic cars” from that era. Cars that I would have NEVER bought back then because they were under powered piles of plastic and everyone went around talking about how inferior they were.
Give it another couple years…
Hot damn dude, who pissed in your Cheerios this morning
You must order alot of old cars.
I’ve got a wireless Android Auto capable unit in my 1992 MR2 Turbo. I’m glad I did it. I would absolutely do this to a Prosche Cayman if I owned one.
As you mentioned, this isn’t a big deal as many of these cars aren’t even classics, just late model. changing the head unit isn’t taboo for most enthusiasts for cars in this age group.
I mean there’re fcking tons of old cars that’s billion times better than new car , one of example of such as are Skyline GT-R R34, Toyota Supra RZ A80, Honda NSX NA2 etc
Factoryish? Nah, more like Factory Plus.
My 993 is worth more than a new car, and I happily paid a little more so I can can listen to my music and sort through my songs without having to pick up my phone. It’s nice to be able to take a roadtrip and have a GPS that isn’t suction cupped to my windshield.
Eat shit.
There are already options and aftermarket parts which delete the radio if that’s more your thing.
“ Jalopnik’s own Steve DaSilva even wrote a defense of the new 7 Series, claiming it looks great.”
Your designs are bad and you should feel bad.
Out of the controversy you get engagement. You get people thinking about it and thinking about alternatives.
Still, you have to admire BMW’s commitment to making the Bangle Era look good.
I believe that BMW designers have an internal wager, where the winner of the pot is the designer that finally goes too far. (i.e. sales tank). I cannot believe we haven’t had a winner yet... which makes me fear for the future designs.
